Sunshine Coast trike tours is what we love to do, and it is our ongoing commitment to create touring accessibility for our guests, regardless of age, physical limitations or disabilities.
Recently we had the pleasure of meeting two gentlemen in their 70’s who are living with dementia. We shared their joy as we toured the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
Here’s what Lorrae and Vince from Sunshine Coast Dementia Network had to say about their experience:
“Dementia is the main cause of death of Australian women and the second cause of death for Australians. However, once diagnosed with dementia, one faces their immortality as dementia cannot be cured. The focus is to enjoy life as much as possible.
Horizon Trike Tours Sunshine Coast provided an opportunity for people living with dementia and their family carers to see the trikes.
Two men in their early 70’s met at a social event organised by the voluntary group, Dementia Network Sunshine Coast, where they spoke about their young days riding motorbikes.
It was such a surprise to see Col 1 and Col 2 arrive on the trikes at the Christmas in July Dementia Catch-up Cuppa at The Orangery, Maleny. The two men with dementia have surrendered their driver’s licence, so to ride on the trike inspired deep memories and enjoyment.
Their wives accompanied them, so it was a time for the couples to share the joy.
Thanks Col 1 and Col 2 for your generosity and care. You made many people have a happy wonderful day. They were so grateful.” – Lorrae, Vince and Dementia Group
It’s an honour for us to be involved in these important moments in our guests’ lives and we do our best to make the experience memorable. As you can see here, we also share in the joy of the carers who join us for the ride.
